Terms of Service

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Donna legal Pty Ltd (ACN to be confirmed) (“Donna legal”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or using the Donna legal website, app, intake form or any related service (the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. What Donna legal is - and what it is not

Donna legal is a technology platform that provides legal information, indicative pricing and introductions to independent Australian law firms. Donna legal is not a law firm, does not practise law and does not provide legal advice. No solicitor-client relationship is formed by your use of the Platform. Any solicitor-client relationship arises only once you sign a separate costs agreement with a law firm.

2. Indicative pricing

Prices displayed on the Platform and in your case summary are guides only and not binding quotes. Actual fees depend on the scope of work, complexity, urgency, disbursements (e.g. court filing fees, search fees, expert reports), and the law firm engaged. A written fixed-fee or estimate will be provided by the engaged firm before any chargeable work begins, as required by the applicable Legal Profession Uniform Law.

3. Lawyer matching & referrals

Where you request a free consultation or to be compared against lawyers, we may pass your matter details to one or more independent law firms on our referral panel. We may receive a referral fee or marketing payment from those firms. This does not increase the fees you pay and does not affect the firm’s professional duties to you.

4. AI-generated content

Your case summary, eligibility indication and recommended services are generated by automated systems (including AI) using the information you provide. The output may contain errors or omissions and must not be relied on as legal advice. You must verify any summary with a qualified lawyer before acting on it.

5. Your obligations

  • Provide accurate, complete and lawful information.
  • Do not use the Platform for unlawful, fraudulent or misleading purposes.
  • Do not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, overload or interfere with the Platform.
  • You are responsible for keeping your contact details current.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Platform - including code, design, copy, brand marks, pricing data and assessment logic - is owned by or licensed to Donna legal and protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, republish or commercially exploit it without our written consent.

7. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that price guides, eligibility indications or wait times will reflect the outcome of your matter. Your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not excluded.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Donna legal’s aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) AUD $100, or (b) the fees you have paid Donna legal in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or economic loss, including loss of profit, opportunity, data or reputation. Liability of any referred law firm is limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.

9. Indemnity

You indemnify Donna legal against losses, damages and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Platform, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms or for security or operational reasons. Sections relating to IP, liability, indemnity and governing law survive termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
